Thanksgiving Cookies/Turkey Name Card Cookies

Super fun to do these cookies free-hand.  Thanks, Sandy Ellis, for finding my inspiration online for these name card cookies.
I like the blue sprinkles.  Adds an unexpected color in the mix.

London's 1st Birthday Cupcake Cake

Baby London turned one!  I was asked to make the "destroyer cake" with a cupcake theme.  London enjoyed squishing the frosting in her hands rather than eating it.  She's so adorable!  I just love this whole family!

Gender Reveal Cake - He or She, What Will it Bee?

What a fun baby shower we had for Amie and Jake Shearman!  They are pregnant with #6, and wanted to do a Gender Reveal Baby Shower.  Soooooo, since I'm their caker friend, Amie asked ME to be the one to keep the gender a secret until the shower EVEN FROM THE PARENTS!  Can you believe it!?  Well, I did a pretty good job of keeping their secret, even if I do say so myself!

Families were invited, so we needed lots of desserts.  We decorated with yellow, grey and white tissue paper flowers hung around the room, paper products were yellow, black, grey and white, and the guests got to guess the gender by placing their name on a cute paper bee and sticking it to a poster board hive with either "Queen Bee" or "Bumble Boy" written on them.

Everyone screamed when the cake was cut.  And my secret was finally out!  May God bless Master Shearman.

Chocolate Ganache Wedding Cake

This wedding cake came together with a one week's notice, from the help of Sue Seydel, Jose Barajas, the very talented florist (don't know her name), and my precious Lord Jesus.  My husband and daughter reminded me that I said I'd "never" do another wedding cake because of the pressure to make it perfect.  Guess I forgot that when I said yes.  Just trying to help a friend and her niece.

Just before delivering this chocolate tower, Jose reminded me, "The cake is second to the dress."  THAT'S when I started panicking!  Even in the hot weather, it came together nicely.  Thank You, Jesus, the Master Caker, for helping me!

Blingalicious

This blingalicious cake was for my adorable Mary Kay sister, Laurie Scott, as we celebrated her newly decorated blingy MK office and amazing business.  The guests dressed up in fancy dresses, had their pictures taken by a professional photographer, and just enjoyed Laurie's hospitality.

Gerber Daisy Cupcakes in Bright Colors

These were for an adoption party of two little girls.  Bright and cheery!

"Boy Oh Boy!" Baby Shower Cake

I don't know why, but this cake is just about my favorite one I've made so far.  The significance of it is that (as you can see) God blessed this family with five girls.  Count them--1, 2, 3, 4, 5!  And then they thought they were done having children.  Well, God has other plans for them.  Along came the six baby--and you guessed it--a boy!  Welcome, Evan Wayne Huhn.  Snips and snails and puppy dog tails.

This cake also came at a time in my life that was one of the lowest emotionally.  Things in my life I thought were certain were stripped from me, for no apparent reason.  God used my love of baking, creating, and blessing this family to help me grieve a very sad time in my life.  Praise Him for His faithfulness!

Scales of Justice

Frank, the paralegal that I work with at the law office, drew a picture of the birthday cake he wanted me to make him, INCLUDING the homemade peanut butter cups balancing on the chains.  Well, I'm no engineer, but I gave him what he asked for.  Recipe for the peanut butter cups (or balls) will be forthcoming.

Kallie's 18th Birthday Cake--Bird Cage

My beautiful baby turned 18 on July 15th.  This is the design she chose--simple and elegant.  We found the mini bird cage at Michael's, and I just happen to have a little birdie to place inside.  It was a great celebration!

Minnie Mouse Cake

This cake is actually three layers.  The bottom portion is two layers with cardboard separating the two.  I made homemade pound cake using three different extracts--sooooo yummy!--vanilla, butter and almond.  The top layer has a cooked chocolate filling, and the bottom two layers are filled with a browned-butter cream cheese frosting with my homemade toffee crumbs.  All cakes are coated with white chocolate swiss buttercream.  This cake was for an adoption celebration.

Del Mar Fair Dummy Cake

The MAD Bakers (Monica Paniagua, Aimee (me) and Deanna Carey) put this dummy cake together to be entered in the Del Mar Fair in June 2012.  We were learning how to make gum paste flowers.  The design and the different shades of fondant covering the styrofoam were all unplanned.  We did pray before we started, so I really think God was the Master Baker here and put this cake together for us.  We'll see what color ribbon (if any) we get at the fair.  It was fun getting together with my sister bakers to do this.  It may just turn into an annual tradition now.

 Blue Ribbon!  Surprised us all!

Kallie's HS Graduation Goodies

My baby girl graduated from Calvary Christian Academy May 25, 2012.  We celebrated in a BIG SUGARY WAY! Way to go, Kallie Jo!  I'm sooooooooo proud of you!  Go with God, baby.  I love you forever.

Kathy Oliveira's Birthday Cake

Kathy Oliveira is my Mary Kay Director.  She is going to become a National Sales Director--the highest position anyone can attain in Mary Kay Cosmetics.  Her area will be called The Olive Area (relating to her last name).  I was blessed to make this cake for her that somewhat matched the logo for her Olive Area.

Kathy has inspired me in my MK business over the past year.  She is THE MOST positive person I know.  I've learned SO MUCH from her, and I will continue to be mentored by Kathy as I press forward in my own MK business.  I love the work I do in owning my own business.  It is very rewarding to help women (and men) look and feel good about themselves.

Purple Apple Blossoms

My two running friends, Debbie Castillo, and Mary Raso, turned 50 and 60 the same month, so we had a fabulous birthday  bash for them complete with a cake covered in chocolate ganache and purple apple blossoms.  My husband added the butterfly (he notices details).  My other running friend, Sandy Ellis, helped with the fondant flowers.  A great time was had by all!

Cakes for My Mary Kay Sisters

I made these cakes for two very special people--Laurie Scott and Teri Cowling.  I love to celebrate their successes in Mary Kay and to celebrate life with them.  Love you, girls!

Teacher Appreciation Cake for CCA

Calvary Christian Academy is near and dear to my heart for so many good reasons.  First, both of my children attend/ed there.  In three days, my daughter Kallie Jo will graduate from CCA.  My hubby is the headmaster of the school.  I've been involved with Moms in Touch/Moms in Prayer for 14 years at CCA.  Both of my kids began CCA in preschool.  My aunt and uncle, Don and Jan Schock, started the school in the late 1980's.  I'm grateful to Jesus for allowing my children to attend such an excellent school.  The teachers are caring, loving, and faithful to God.  It was my privilege to make a fun cake for the staff during Teacher Appreciation Week.
